After Clarence and Esther were married in 1937, they lived for a short time in Jacob and Katherine Lebsack’s home, then moved to the beet labor shack on the property. Soon the couple moved the the home on the North Place, then in 1941 moved to the Cheairs farm just northeast of Iliff. Clarence and Esther farmed there until 1944, sold out, moved to Sterling and bought the home at 401 McKinley Street.

In 1946 they returned to farming, this time to the dryland west of Sterling near Pawnee Pass. They bought the former Johnson place, referred to by Esther's brother Hank as the "Grapes of Wrath" place, and lived there until returning to irrigated farming near Proctor in 1948. They lived at the North Place once again and farmed there until buying the feed store in Sterling in 1951.

In Sterling the family lived in a rental house at 512 Chestnut Street for two years, and then purchased a home at 331 McKinley Street where they lived from 1953 to 1958. The next home was in Country Club Hills, in a new house they had built. They lived there until moving to the farm southwest of Merino in 1962 where they lived there until 1969 when they purchased the home on Forest Road in Country Club Hills.

After Clarence died in 1991, Esther lived in the Country Club Hills home until 1993 when she sold it and moved into a duplex in Sterling. In 1995 she moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to live with Sharon.

Most of these places are described in much more detail in Clarence’s book Jacob & Katherine Lebsack Family History, chapters 14 through 17.
